The Psychives was created as a thoughtful, welcoming space for psychological support.

We believe therapy should feel human rather than clinical, collaborative rather than prescriptive, and curious rather than judgmental.

Your questions, gently answered

Your questions, gently answered

01

I've never been to therapy. What actually happens?

The first session is mostly about getting to know each other. You'll be asked what brought you and a little about your life, as much or as little as you want to say. Nothing is decided in the first session.

02

How do I know which psychologist to choose?

Read their profiles and follow your instinct. If you're not sure, tell us a little about what's bringing you and we'll help you decide. If the fit isn't right once you've started, you can change.

03

Can I meet online?

Yes, however some work with younger children especially, is better in person, and we'll be honest with you about that.

04

How long is a therapy session?

A standard individual therapy session is approximately 50 minutes.

05

What are the session fees?

R1200 Per Session, we Accept insurance.

06

Can I claim from medical aid?

This may depend on your medical aid, plan and available benefits. We can provide the relevant documentation where applicable, but recommend confirming reimbursement directly with your medical aid.

07

Is therapy confidential?

Your privacy is treated with care. Confidentiality and its professional or legal limits will be explained by your psychologist during the therapeutic process.
